According to the announcement, Gopal's resume also includes senior leadership roles at Humana, Cigna, United Technologies, and Honeywell.

Although Ahold Delhaize's AI developments in Europe are more public, ADUSA has a strong e-commerce foundation for Gopal to leverage. The grocery company's U.S. division sawonline sales grow 14.3% in Q1, marking the eighth consecutive quarter of double-digit online sales growth.
Meanwhile, Ahold Delhaize discussed several ongoing AI initiatives in its European operations during its most recent earnings call. The grocery company's e-commerce platform Bol, based in the Netherlands and Belgium, is expanding its suite of AI tools, while the store associate app at Netherlands-based Albert Heijn continues to leverage AI to "act as the brain of the store, reading every signal and coordinating work between people, systems, and devices, including electronic shelf labels," Ahold Delhaize President and CEO Frans Muller told investors last week.
