The Raley’s Companies to close more stores
Raley's Companies spokesperson Chelsea Carbahal confirmed to Grocery Dive that it will close three Raley's-branded stores and one Nob Hill Foods store, located in Brentwood, California; Elko, Nevada; Petaluma, California; and Los Gatos, California, respectively. The closures will span from November 2025 through June 2027. Carbahal stated that these closures are not part of an overall store reduction plan, but are based on local market conditions and long-term financial sustainability. The Los Gatos store is closing due to the landlord terminating the lease. The company also mentioned plans to open a new store in Madera in March 2027, emphasizing that this reflects the same disciplined management approach.

Carbahal said the closures are not tied to a broader effort to reduce its store fleet.
“A variety of factors contributed to these store closures, including local market conditions and the long-term financial sustainability of these locations,” Carbahal wrote. “Thoughtful stewardship sometimes means opening stores, and sometimes it means making difficult decisions to close them.”
Carbahal said that the anticipated Nob Hill Foods closure in Los Gatos is due to the landlord terminating the grocer’s lease.
“These decisions are part of the same disciplined approach that guides investments across our business, including our planned Madera store opening in March 2027,” Carbahal wrote, referring to the 40,000-square-foot Raley’s O-N-E Market that broke ground in June.
At the start of the year, Raley’s confirmed its plans to close a name banner store in Roseville, California, in January and the Nob Hill Foods location in Mountain View, California, in May. A Raley’s store in Antioch, California, shuttered in April, according to a WARN notice.
The Raley’s Companies has undergone several key executive changes this year. In March, the company named Mike Teel, its owner and chairman, as its CEO, succeeding Keith Knopf, who worked for nearly 11 years at the company. In July, the company named Carol Barsotti chief marketing officer.
Raley’s started in 1935 and became The Raley’s Companies in 2021 after it bought Bashas’. The company runs over 100 stores in Northern California and Nevada.
