Once upon a time, Marc Lore, CEO of Walmart's U.S. e-commerce business, believed that the world's largest retailer's last-mile delivery model could potentially replicate the same path in every country.

"Imagine employees around the world delivering orders to customers on their way home from work," Lore said at the company's annual meeting in June 2017. "This could truly change the game."

Two years later, Walmart employees in the U.S. not only deliver to customers on their way home—some have even begundelivering products directly into customers' homes. However, on a global scale, Walmart's last-mile strategy shows significant differences from its U.S. operations.
