Met Fresh Opens First Philadelphia Store, Parent Company ASG Expands Beyond New York Metro Area
Met Fresh opened its first store in Philadelphia on August 6, with parent company Associated Supermarket Group announcing this expansion. The new store is located in South Philadelphia and offers fresh-cut produce, bakery items, local products, deli, and pharmacy services, along with free delivery for seniors. ASG stated that the store reflects its continued investment in independent supermarkets, with its approximately 24 stores currently concentrated mainly in New York City and New Jersey.

Met Fresh opened its first store in Philadelphia on August 6, an announcement made earlier this month by parent company Associated Supermarket Group (ASG). The opening marks the first expansion of the Met Fresh and Met Foods brands beyond the New York metropolitan area.
According to ASG, the new store is located at 2014 S. Broad St. in the South Philadelphia neighborhood and features a fresh-cut fruit and vegetable section, a bakery, a local produce section, a full-service deli, and a pharmacy. Additionally, the store offers free grocery delivery for seniors.
ASG stated in the announcement that the opening reflects "Met Fresh's ongoing commitment to independently operated supermarkets that strengthen the communities they serve."
Currently, ASG operates more than twenty stores under the Met Fresh and Met Foods banners, primarily concentrated in New York City or the outer New Jersey metropolitan area. In addition to Met Fresh and Met Foods, ASG also operates supermarket brands such as Associated, Associated Fresh, Compare, Compare Fresh, Metropolitan City Market, and Pioneer. Earlier this summer, ASG also opened The Market of Point Pleasant Beach in New Jersey, a store owned and operated by Shap Markets.
